Welcome to Sticky Sharp Rigs!

Our aim here at Sticky Sharp Rigs is very simple:-

  • To produce rigs which are effective, reliable and easy to use for a competitive and affordable price.

  • To provide anglers with a better choice of products, particularly for those anglers who cannot tie
their own rigs and want to use the latest patterns and presentations seen in angling publications.

  • To use and combine the best materials from some of the sport's leading tackle manufacturers.

Most companies these days make their own range of rigs, all of which willl catch fish. However, most of these rigs are fairly basic hair rigs. That’s not what we are trying to achieve at SSR. Even our most basic pattern has a certain degree of technical input with regards to knots, loops and presentation.

Yes, we get ideas for our rigs from the Carp fishing publications, as well as the established benchmark rigs, but we also have a few ideas of our own which we are working on and constantly developing.

Most feedback that we had initially received revealed that some anglers have trouble using extruded materials like fluorocarbon and bristle filament, particularly when it comes to tying knots. Tiny loops for hairs are another area where people struggle, not to mention bait floss and splicing leadcore. These are areas in which SSR is aiming to help out those that have difficulty in creating the more technical rigs that can give you the edge on the local pond.

    MADE IN ENGLAND
A simple enough statement, but one we are proud of.
These days, many more rigs than you may believe are made in the Far East.

    QUALITY
To make quality rigs you first need quality materials.
We would never expect a customer to use a rig that we wouldn’t have in our own rig wallet, and we would hate to think of any of our rigs leaving here that were substandard in anyway.
Every rig is given the same care and attention as the one before and no corners are ever cut.
To us, selling a faulty rig is like selling a car with faulty brakes - completely unnacceptable.

We use only the best braids, fluorocarbons, bristle filaments, swivels, rig rings and knots. And, not to mention of course, all our hooks are indeed Sticky Sharp!

Although I now only fish for Carp as a rule, my roots lie in match fishing, or ''maggot drowning'' as some like to call it. I competed at national level for over 15 years and during that time I occasionally fished for specimens and did in fact catch Carp and Pike over 20lbs, Chub to over 6lbs, Perch to 4lb, Bream into double figures and Roach to 3lb 6ozs.

I was lucky enough to have shared matches with local names, national icons and, occasionally, world champions. Some of these anglers were and still are some of the most talented, innovative and forward thinking anglers in the country.

When you spend every weekend for years on end in the company of such gifted people, you can’t help being influenced by them. Attention to detail is everything and near enough is never good enough.

When you’re dealing with lines as light as 6ozs and hooks as small as size 30, there is no room for sloppiness. I have applied the same attention to detail to my rigs here at Sticky Sharp. The fish we are targeting are bigger, but with the pressure that most waters are under these days, high levels of detail and just doing it RIGHT will get results.

I have personally tried and caught fish on all of the rigs in our portfolio and there are many rigs that didn’t make it into our catalogue.

I am passionate about my fishing and anything connected with it.
I hope that this is reflected in the rigs that I make ..

    Tight lines,
    Graham Howard
